About the Role

Our second Church Missionary Worker - acting as a Church Evangelist and Cross-Cultural Officer will be a new development for us at Ebenezer Church Machen. The role builds on the success of our existing Church Missionary Worker, to outline responsibilities for another missionary worker within the church. The role will complement the existing appointment and add resource in the context of the church. One major thing that we have discovered following the appointment of our first Church Missionary Worker is that there is lots of work to do and far too much for one individual alone

Ebenezer Church Machen - Church Evangelist and Cross-Cultural Officer role outline

Based at Ebenezer Church Machen, the Church Evangelist and Cross-Cultural Officer will play a vital role in advancing the church’s mission through evangelism, discipleship, and global Christian engagement. This role is designed for a passionate, Spirit-led individual who is committed to proclaiming the Gospel and fostering meaningful connections between our church and the wider Christian community—locally, nationally, and internationally.

A committed, Bible believing Christian, you will lead evangelistic efforts, support discipleship initiatives, and help the church understand and participate in global mission work. This includes building relationships with Christians from diverse backgrounds, partnering with international ministries, and encouraging the church to embrace its role in the global body of Christ.

Ebenezer Church Machen Missionary Workers including the Church Evangelist and Cross-Cultural Officer, will not receive a salary from Ebenezer Church Machen. Our missionary workers must be self-funded through churches, friends and family that send and support them.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide spiritual leadership, global mission insight, and evangelistic outreach across the following areas:

  • Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through personal witness, public events, and community engagement;
  • Discipleship – Supporting the spiritual growth of new believers and church members through mentoring, Bible study, and prayer;
  • Cross-Cultural Engagement – Building bridges between Ebenezer Church Machen and other Christian communities across cultures and nations;
  • Global Mission – Encouraging and facilitating the church’s involvement in international mission work and partnerships;
  • Community Outreach – Building relationships with local residents, schools, and organizations to share the love of Christ;
  • Events and Programmes – Organizing evangelistic and cross-cultural events that reflect the diversity of the global church and the heart of the Gospel;
  • Training and Equipping – Helping church members grow in their ability to share their faith and engage cross-culturally;
  • Partnerships – Collaborating with other churches, ministries, and mission organizations to further the mission of the church;
  • Worship Leadership – Supporting and occasionally leading worship services, encouraging a culture of heartfelt praise and musical expression that reflects the diversity of the church community;
  • Practical Support – Participating in the day-to-day life of the church, including administrative and operational tasks as needed.
